Collar
Our Standard
Storm Collars waterproof single or closely grouped multiple
pipes that penetrate a roof. We manufacture two types of Storm
Collars, Line Set Collars and Conduit Collars. Both of
these
are designed to install 'over the top' of roof penetrations.
This is great
for new construction or when you have already disassembled
the penetration
for other reasons.
ALL STYLE's Storm Collars seal the gap
between the flashing and the penetration, providing a goop-less
solution that will last for the life of the roof. The best part
is the speed of installation and the professional look when completed.
Our Line Set Collars waterproof closely
grouped penetrations such as the copper tubes used on HVAC compressor
units. They were designed to waterproof the Line Sets used on roof
mounted condenser units that are a common source of leaks. Water
will follow the copper line sets, often inside the insulation and
throughout the building. D amage to the interior could be several
floors below and many feet horizontally from the actual leak.
Our Line Set collars isolate and securely
fasten to the copper line sets creating a 'watertight umbrella'
that waterproofs the assembly. Water following the insulated line
stops on the roof, keeping the water outside.
The second type is our Conduit Collar,
which waterproofs roof mounted electrical equipment with multiple
conduits penetrating the roof. When these conduits are placed close
together, our Collars provide the counter flashing required to
successfully waterproof these multi-pipe penetrations. Conduit
Collars include two holes and can waterproof two conduit pipes
with outside dimensions starting at 3/4 inch and as large as 1
inch in diameter.
Both types of Collars set up a waterproof
condition without locking onto the roofing structure. The current
method of using 'pitch pockets' or 'pitch boxes' does not allow
line sets to move independently of the building. Additionally,
the NRCA (National Roofing Contractor's Association) states in
their HARK Manual in Section VIII, Page 7, the following, "Good
practice dictates that curbs be placed around all penetrations.
The use of so-called "pitch boxes" or "pitch pockets" around
penetrations should be avoided because they pose a constant maintenance
problem."
Our Collars provide the accepted solution.
Both types of Collars are made from high
quality E.P.D.M. Nordel Rubber. This is a superior rubber hybrid
material giving our Collars excellent U.V. stability and weatherability.
E.P.D.M. offers good resistance to heat, ozone and sunlight, with
good flexibility at low temperatures and resistance to alkalis,
acids and oxygenated solvents. E.P.D.M. withstands temperatures
(minus 40 deg F to 180 deg. F) without losing flexibility.
Our Standard Storm Collars can be used
to waterproof twin electric conduits, Air Conditioning line sets,
stack vents and be used to repair worn out combination galvanized/plastic
boot flashings.
Our Collars are available in different
colors for an ascetically pleasing finished look. Please contact
