"While bidding
a roofing project consisting of 25 houses, we were asked
by the architect if we had any ideas on how to properly
address/replace the roof jacks around all of the weather
heads. An attempt was
made to wrap the pipe and jack with a piece of rubber
and caulk it to the pipe, which didn't work very well.
At the time, I was not familiar with a product such
as yours that is specifically designed for this application,
but after doing some research, I found some information
on the Retro-Spin
Flashing and forwarded it to the architect.
The architect then sent out an addendum specifying the
Retro-Spin Flashing. As it turns out, we were the successful
bidder and were awarded the job. We ended up installing
Retro-Spin Flashings on 25 weather heads. Without this
product, there is no good way to replace the old jacks.
We would have had to leave the old rusty jacks with the
dry rotted rubber in place and at a minimum we would
have had to scrape and sand the rust, paint them, and
then figure out a way to properly seal the jack to the
pipe, without having an ugly wad of caulking.
With the help
of the Retro-Spin Flashing, we were able to properly
replace every one of the roof penetration flashings providing
the owner and architect the assurance of a complete problem
free roof system for many years to come.
The Retro-Spin Flashings are the answer to this common
problem and I can't believe no one has designed something
like this before. We were very pleased with the end result,
as was the architect, and we will both be specifying
this product on upcoming roofing projects.
