Retrofit Spin Flashing Specification
So that you may be assured of receiving the fine
quality you expect when you specify All Style Industries Retro-Spin
Flashings, we include the following sample specification for your
convenience.
All Style Industries' Retro-Spin Flashings are fabricated
in the United States from first quality electro-galvanized sheet
metal. The life expectancy of a Retro-Spin Flashing should exceed
20 years. A Retro-Spin Flashing is a roof jack, or pipe flashing,
which waterproofs roof penetrations when an "over the top" installation
is not possible or desirable. It is useful for "from the side" retrofit
installations.
A Retro-Spin Flashing assembly is constructed of
one tightly fitted interior and one exterior impact extruded roof
jack flashing. The patented Retro-Spin design enables the interior
flashing to rotate freely within the confines of the exterior flashing.
Pre-punched access slots are cut through the sides of the two flashings
creating a "door" that opens and closes using the spin
action design.
Choose the Retro-Spin Flashing design that is large
enough for a roof penetration to pass through the open slot and
enter the conical interior of the jack, allowing the flashing
to rotate, or spin closed without obstruction. Hand tools are not
needed when placing a Retro-Spin Flashing around a roof penetration.
Retro-Spin Flashings are fabricated from single sheets
of metal with no attachment seams. The flashings' conical shaped
cones are three inches high. A four inch horizontal flange, or
skirt, is formed for the final attachment to the roofing system.
The diameter of the conical opening of a Retro-Spin Flashing is
three inches.
A variety of pipe sizes and geometric shapes can
be flashed, and waterproofed using the Retro-Spin Flashing. An
optional accessory, the patented Retro-Split Storm Collar can be
used to attach to the roof penetration and counterflash the Retro-Spin
Flashings' conical opening. The combination of a Retro-Spin Flashing
and Retro-Split Storm Collar creates a waterproof flashing assembly
for any combination of multiple pipe or odd geometric-shaped roof
penetrations.
For roof slopes greater than 4 and 12, spin the interior
flashing 180 degrees to the "closed" position and align
the door cut-out so that it faces "down hill" to the
roof slope. For roof slopes less than 4 and 12, caulk or solder
the seams of the door cut-out for added security.

For flat roof
installations, always use good soldering techniques to seal the
door cut-out after it is closed. (See image)
As with any roof jack flashing, refer to the
roof
system manufacturer, or to the National Roofing Contractor Association's
(NRCA) roofing manual for the proper installation details for your
roofing system.
